I picked this up at the library when I was browsing around... Landmark; The Inside Story of America's New Health-Care Law and What It Means for Us All and figured why not, I could at least flip through it.
Well this one took me by surprise. Do yourself a favor and at least browse through it, though reading it wouldn't take much longer and would be worth the effort.
I picked this up because (like many Americans, I'm sure) I wanted to know more about the new health-care legislation that passed. I assumed that I'd have to really drag myself through this book, but it was surprisingly readable and easy to understand, and includes a summary of the act in the last third of the book. I finished the book in a few hours. There's also some graphs, charts, etc to help demonstrate the data.
I'm still on the fence as to how I feel about the new health care system, and I guess only time will tell. But if you have any questions about what's in it, read this. It clears up a lot of issues, and no matter how you feel about the bill you're likely at least to be better informed.
Oh, and I know that the cover mentions "the inside story", but not really. You learn some about how hard to was to scrounge up the votes to get it to pass, and why so many changes were made, etc. But the best chunk of the book focuses on how the law affects different aspects of health care.
